One of the trails in Yucaipa. Open all year to all skill level. Grape Street Trail on Grape Avenue on a hill North end of Yucaipa.
The follow applies to a hike one way from Grape Avenue to the back of the Regional Park. It really deserves a 3.5 rating. There are many options for hiking, biking, and running in the Crafton Hills (see "Crafton Hills Trail"). The eastern most end of the "Hills" is Grape Avenue. It does cost money to drive or walk into the Regional Park. However, you can walk out the front of the Park FREE. Best route through the regional park to the park entrance from the Crafton Hills TH is between the middle and lower lake. The distance from the back side of the regional park (where the trail head is) to the front entrance gate of the park adds only about 1/2 mile to the walk. You can park right out the front of the entrance gate, or go just around the corner (east side of entrance) to the community center where there is abundant parking. There is no way to make this walk into a nice loop (however, a biker probably could come up with a nice loop). The scenery is brush, the scentsy Grape Avenue homes, the large reservoir, views of Yucaipa Valley and the distant mountains, Mentone/Mill Creek/Santa Ana river valleys, and "top down" views of the 3 lakes at the park. And then if you walk to the front entrance, you might as well loop around the middle lake especially (birds, fishing, reflections in the water, water slides, paddle boating, snack bar, and beat frisbee golf in the area). This might be the most scenic short walk from Grape Avenue into the Crafton Hills.
