Climb down was not bad. Keep in mind this is the only way down so it can be busy and keep in mind to watch out for the surfboards. Also please note to parents, nudest beach if you make a right at the bottom of the stairway

Steep, but not terribly difficult walk down to the beach. My wife and I were in sandals and were carrying a bag each and didn't have any problems.

Super nice view. Very step but also pretty short. When you get to the bottom the area and north is a nude beach. No dogs allowed. the climb up it's tough, a lot of stairs. But also multiple places to stop out of the way if you need to. keep in mind if going swimming that you will need to hike after too. as a inexperienced hiker I took this hike a few times, down was pretty easy, tough on the knees. up was pretty hard after a day of swimming.

I have been maintaining this trail the last 15 years or so. The trail was built by nudists in the early 70's. The trail has been maintained by nudists ever since. The City or State does nothing to the trail. I have counted roughly 550 walking steps, the trail has about 200 wooden steps, theses steps I have put in, replaced or fixed. Most of the material has been donated or found. I started a group on facebook called Friends of Blacks Beach. I use this trail every weekend as it is the only clothing optional beach in San Diego. Thanks all who have used this trail and wrote a review about it.
