steep at shine points but not too difficult. the view is amazing and the beach is beautiful
nice cardio exercise goin up and down the trail.
Steep, but not terribly difficult walk down to the beach. My wife and I were in sandals and were carrying a bag each and didn't have any problems.
you cannot fly
Super nice view. Very step but also pretty short. When you get to the bottom the area and north is a nude beach. No dogs allowed. the climb up it's tough, a lot of stairs. But also multiple places to stop out of the way if you need to. keep in mind if going swimming that you will need to hike after too. as a inexperienced hiker I took this hike a few times, down was pretty easy, tough on the knees. up was pretty hard after a day of swimming.
love this beach. be advised it is a Nude Beach. kids not a good idea.
I have been maintaining this trail the last 15 years or so. The trail was built by nudists in the early 70's. The trail has been maintained by nudists ever since. The City or State does nothing to the trail. I have counted roughly 550 walking steps, the trail has about 200 wooden steps, theses steps I have put in, replaced or fixed. Most of the material has been donated or found. I started a group on facebook called Friends of Blacks Beach. I use this trail every weekend as it is the only clothing optional beach in San Diego. Thanks all who have used this trail and wrote a review about it.
Beautiful view, easy down, moderate up.
Went to Blacks beach, it was amazing!!
once a hidden gem but has gained alot popularity over the years. great place to
Great views and a fun, steep trek to beach and great little heart-beating trek back up. I have done this many times over the years. Nude beach, so be forewarned as it unfortunately can sometimes be of a low caliber. Watch surfers climb down daunting pseudo side trails as flocks of pelicans glide by with melting sea breezes meeting your cheeks. Ware your suit for a dip at the bottom
Awesome view of ocean from the top of the cliff. The descent to Black's beach from the glider port is quite steep, takes about 10 to 15 to reach the beach. My first time at a nude beach, it was a very interesting experience.
Love the steps up from blacks beach, great cardio.lots of parking and great views
A great work out! Moderate intensity. No public restrooms when you get to the beach, so prepare yourself before starting.
BEST VIEW WITHIN CITY PROPER!
*warning tho: it's a nude beach!*
Here's the "unspoken rules:
1) left of the stairs - surfers ally
2) right of the stairs - nudies city!
Keep high or on a trail but you HAVE TO check a sunset here!!!
Hiked pretty much this whole area over several decades, from Torrey Pines to La Jolla Shores.
