Gibbs Lake is a 5.8 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Lee Vining, California and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and fishing and is best used from July until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
The first 3/4 mile very steep and dusty. The following 2 1/2 miles are steady uphill climb. Fishing very poor...5 of us fished several hours using dry flies and lures. Lake is fairly pretty but other Sierra day hikes better.
This is a short trail with a lot of elevation gain in the beginning. The trail is hard to follow in some spots but has a beautiful view once you get higher up and great fishing once you get to the lake.
