Fort Funston Trail is a 1.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near San Francisco, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Hold on to your hat. Fort Funston features 200 foot high sandy bluffs on San Franciscos southwest coast where the winds blow reliably wildly. Be aware that its a steep, strenuous hike down to the beach and back up. A network of trails make it ideal for hiking and horseback riding. Dog owners will be happy to know they can take leashes off here. It is also home to the Fort Funston Native Plant Nursery.
Great place to bring your dogs and to just enjoy the scenery. Not much for hiking but great for walking.
As far as urban hikes go this is a great stretch. Easy to add the lake loop and in the summer a non fire on the beach is awesome.
nice and full of dogs
beautiful and super dog friendly
Dog heaven !
Risky for the dogs near the cliffs, one fell off the day we were there. Beach is a challenge to get to from the trails but it was breathtakingly beautiful. Totally worth the time.
