Flume Trail is a good trail if you're looking to workout or train for more strenuous trails. It's well-maintained and somewhat steep with several switchbacks, starting off near Highway 49 in Placer County and ending at the American River, close to Chili Bar.

These directions are not correct. It does not go up Mule Skinner. That is a private road that goes to private property. No hiking trails up there.

This trail is STEEP, STRENUOUS, TIRING, and wonderful! It was a great hike that lead to a beautiful river. I definitely recommend it to experienced hikers. I wouldn't bring children tho, the hike uphill is a killer!
