One of the shadier, less steep loops in a lovely park right at the edge of the metro area. Great when you only have an hour or two to spare.

Nice peaceful hike through woods and meadows. The nature center was very nice (it's free) with friendly staff.

Qualify for a great wildflower hike and kid friendly as well-we went during mid April and it was lush on the top with wild and exotic flowers in its grandeur. We went with kids, and the brochure from the visitor center was wonderfully organized with information about wildflowers to spot on the way, the kids were engaged and did a good job of spotting most (if not all) the wildflowers without a blink-spectacular! Great hike and between Sylvan, Serpentine(?) and edgewood we clocked 3 miles altogether. Highly encourage to take plenty of water as the area is quite open and no water source in between.

this trail was connecting to the edgewood trail so that it will make the hike longer. it is open space.

Great view of the freeway. Probably best if you live in the neighborhood and need to walk your dog. Actually, when I was growing up it was known as a habitat for a couple of rare wildflowers. Not sure if they are all trampled over yet or not.

Very dog friendly and busy trai,l but the convenient location to San Carlos and Redwood City can't be beat. Great for hiking year round. Enjoyable mixed terrain. This is part of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. Ample parking.

I've seen many rattler skins... but aside that, no contact with any. The hike is moderate to hard, depending on your speed and stamina. Good folliage at some points.
