East Fork New River Loop is a 17.5 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Big Bar, California that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from June until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This rugged route dips into the canyons of the remote Green Trinities, where you'll find solitude and quiet riverside camps. NOTE: Wildfires in 2006 and 2008 severely burned parts of this area: check with rangers for current conditions before heading out. Free wilderness permit required for overnight visitors. Free campfire permits required for fires and camp stoves. Trails in the Trinity Alps are always open: however, most trailhead access roads are closed or impassable during winter.
