Hwy 111 right on Washington Blvd, right on Eisenhower Ave. go all the way the end, right turn at the "T" intersection.
Good for an easy walk around.
Fine for a short walk, especially with the dog.
This is one of the few trails near Palm Desert that is dog-friendly. On the morning of 12/31/2014, the temperature was in low 40's but the wind made it feel much colder. The top of the mountains were covered with snow from the winter storm from the day before. The place was absolutely gorgeous and serene. I started this short hike (more like a nature walk) from the East Cove trailhead. I made a loop and walked 1.62 miles in total and gained 134 ft. Easy hike. First, pass the first 2 junctions then at the 3rd junction, turn right. You are on DIKE. Stay on the trail until you meet a trail on your right. That will take you to Cove Oasis where the palm trees and picnic tables are. Once you reach Cove Oasis, turn right then turn left to go back to the trailhead. This is both dog and family friendly.
Hiked this short trail back in July 3, 2013, it’s a popular trail to La Quinta residents who want to take their pet for a morning walk. If you look at the map and hiked all the Stars; which form a loop, it’s a perfect exercise, if you were looking for something easy. Best to hike this loop trail, early in the morning in the summer.
