Dome Rock Trail is a 1.5 mile out and back trail located near Springville, California that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from March until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
The trail had some incredible views. You can see needles lookout for most of the trail. It's a quick walk. There is a gate that says road closed keep off. I took that as pedestrians only lol
I parked in the highway where the sign said dome rock and walked from there. Like I said, very short hike
A quick walk to a spectacular view! It's a short distance, but all uphill So you could become short of breath if you are out of shape, nespecially at that high of an altitude. I would suggest decent shoes because you will be walking on slick solid granite with a possibility of loose rocks causing some loose footing for the beginner or for children.
Definitely more of a walk up hill then a hike if you park in the designated parking lot. But awesome views, good spot to hangout, eat lunch and see the sights.
Not a hike at all more of a walk up a hill. When you get up the hill it's a sight to see.
Hiked to this peak from near R-Ranch which is mainly along roads for a more of an all day thing and to get the miles and the elevation gain once on top the views of the Kern Gorge are just amazing. It was a nice clear day.
We call this Elephant Dome, it's off of Nobe Young Creek and Camp Whitsett a boy scout camp.
Fished here all my life, thanks DAD for wonderful years of family fun.
Doesn't really qualify as a hike unless you park off the main road and hike the quarter mile or so on the dirt road. It's more of a scramble up the backside of the dome, but the views are spectacular. It's off the beaten track, so it keeps the crowds away. Just a few die hards quietly enjoying the view.
Great views of the surrounding mountains and the stars. Played night frisbee as well!
