Very nice hike that connects with other trails in the Desolation Wilderness. Be forewarned that it is nearly constant uphill from the Wilderness boundary to Rubicon Lake (I started at the Meeks Creek trailhead). I would say the trail is moderate to mildly strenuous. Decent views and lots of water along the way. probably best to go midweek as it is very crowded on the weekend.
This one is much better in August when the flowers are in their full glory. Still beautiful, with lots of delicious berries to eat along the trail.
