Sadness still abounds. But I'm not going to let the drought hamper my view of the trail, it was a fun on. It was a great view of Isabella pond, and will hopefully be a great view of the lake sometime soon. Be sure to stop and look at the old mine. It looks like a little jail door, but is now actually a bat sanctuary. There is a sign describing that, but it's pretty thrashed and hard to read.
Ok. Might be better when there is some rain. Empty lake. Dead hillsides. Sadness abounds.
Took the wife and kids out here today and thought it was okay. kids had fun but its hot out there in the sun all day. very few rest areas but still fun. There is a really amazing view of the lake from a top the mountain.
Good hike if you want to show the valley & lake to out of towners. Beautiful views of entire valley from dams to south fork & over to Wofford Heights. Uphill & switchbacks going out but not to steep vertical climb. Can be windy late in the day & hot during summer. Bring lots of water. Good trail for dogs, not crowded.
Did it with a group of 11 kids. They had fun! Its a great trail for looking down from high ground. Short so beginers can get a liking to hiking. Not a lot to see but lots of bends the keep you moving along. Single file was the only way to go.
This is a good trail but a bit close to the highway so you here car traffic all the time. This trail starts at Hungry Gulch CG on Hwy 155 and its a well maintained trail.
