Start this hike maybe a 1/4 mile south of the main entrance. Park at the exhibit and walk into the wash. You will see a line of rocks that will lead you on your way. Once into the wash there are no markers, there is no trail head here so pay close attention. Once you get farther down the wash you will see several cairns leading you to an old jeep trail to thr right of the wash. Once on that it is fairly easy to follow all the way back. This is a pretty moderate hike. Mainly uphill and quite a few loose rocks. Tons of barrel cactus and flowers, but be very careful as there are also alot of cholla cactus. If you are into desert history and/or mines, this is definitely a must do hike.
This trail does not look like much at first, but it turns out to be a really nice trail a mine and equipment left out there. Most of the mine shafts are fenced off, and the others that are not to be entered.
The hike itself starts about .5 miles past north entrance in the Park. A large sign on the right with SOME parking is the start point. You start hiking down a wash, on the left side of the sign, there is NO trail head for this trail. Hike down the wash head west on the wash, past a small hill on the right you can start to see the trail. But continue on the wash, it will lead you right to the trail. It climbs gentle with amazing desert overlooks and tons of barrel cactus. Please leave artifacts as they lay, not only is it illegal to take any stuff out but others will not be able to see and connect to the past.
