Beautiful views of Santa Barbara!!! Only down side was all the poison oak. Also, a little too crowded for out taste. Lots of shade!
Great hike not too trafficked parking is spotty but trail overall is great. There are a lot of different ways you can go too we took west fork to Gibraltar Rd and back.
Perfect trail for our one day in the area. Though it hasn't rained here in a while, the canyon was green & lush with a sweet view of Santa Barbara at the top. Loved that the app kept us on the trail in the many confusing spots!
wonderful views up and down
We had a great hike...actually pretty steep on the way up, and we wandered off course a couple of times. But due to the recent rain the water was flowing and the plants were green and there was cool in the air. Even had to walk over some small patches of water on the creek from the flowing waterfall...really beautiful hike and definitely moderately challenging in parts! Parking wasn't bad for a Saturday, but we went closer to noon to avoid the early morning crowds!

This is a steep hike and the path is on the side of the hill. Therefore, there is quite a drop off the path. Many people were on the trail on s Monday afternoon. I would hike this again.
Just tried this hike a couple days ago and loved it! The trail was pretty clean except for the occasional dog poop (people pick up your dog's poop!!!!) The scenery was lovely and to my surprise the waterfall was actually flowing due to our recent rain fall.
love this trail!! it's great for summer because you start in the woods and the running water keeps the temperature moderate. when you ascend out of the woods you go through some covered switchbacks until close to the peak.
The peak has some amazing views up and down the SB coast!!
The clouds were out so the view at the top was not visible. There's pools of water in the creek though!
Solid hike with an amazing view! Wasn't physically demanding its just time consuming. Bring water, I didn't and suffered on the way down.
Beautiful hike with lots of coverage and shade. Bring water and enjoy!
Beautiful. Shaded. Great vista points even if you don't go all the way. LOTS of poison oak though... Watch out!!
Four stars for it being all cool and shady woods for the lower half. (Five stars are reserved for alpine hikes). Wife and I walked the main trail last week which was v nice. Today I walked the west fork which was actually kind of nicer. More woods and more caves. The trail goes to the cold springs tunnel (built in 1905) which accesses a steady source of water for the Montecito residents below. I'm sure the water must be v good for keeping their movie star hair nice and shiny.
Anyway, the trail then goes up and over to Gibraltar Rd. That part of the hike is pretty good because it goes along a hill ridge and then turns up through a small pass over to the road. You can tell you are getting closer to the road from all the broken beer bottle trash.
On the way back is when I noticed the wall of caves down below the tunnel. Sadly I didn't see any Indian art work in any of them. The formations and the water erosion work is pretty damn good.
