Buckeye Hot Springs Ride is a 9 mile out and back trail located near Bridgeport, CA and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for mountain biking and is accessible year-round.
Of all the public hot springs on the "east side", Buckeye offers a free and diverse arena for a broad variety of people to enjoy one of nature's spectacular gifts. In the day time, families flock to enjoy the fishing and the natural baths. When the sun goes down it's better to at least be mindful of "hot spring etiquette". If you plan to bring the family at night, it's a great practice to survey the scene before actually bringing the family for a dip...
All in all, the people that I have come in contact with at Buckeye are very respectful. The fishing is great there, and there is unincorporated camping as well as an established camp ground. The pools are man-made of rock and mud and vary in temperature depending on who is soaking. The middle pool with the over-hang is generally the hottest. I absolutely love soaking at night starring up at the sky. There is something magical about soaking in naturally hot water, listening to the river that you can only vaguely see, and watching the stars circle above your head. It's a great place to be silent and listen. But it's also a fun place to hang out and meet new people from far away places.
