Best views of Livermore (without leaving Livermore.). You can choose a hike anywhere from 1 mile to about 5 miles.

Just tried this reserve today, and I love it! There was plenty of (free) parking, unlike Mission Peak which has been dubbed the best hike in the area. I completely disagree. This place is so much better. There are multiple trails you can try, and they have maps you can take with you. We hiked on the Brushy Peak trail and turned off on Tamcan trail which took us back to our car after a nice incline. My only tips for this reserve are: wear sunscreen, as the only shade you'll get is from the clouds. Maybe invest in a nice hat. Watch out for cow pies. They're everywhere. Bring water for you, AND your dog. Although, there is a bowl by the water fountain where you park, it's important to keep your dog hydrated along the trail. And, other than that, just respect the trail. Pick up your trash, stay on the path, and close all gates behind you. I can't wait to go back here next weekend.

Great trail with pretty awesome views. Bring lots of water if going when weather is warm; there is no shade. Also, don't mind the cows and watch out for their dump in certain areas.
