Box Springs Mountain Park is a 3.6 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Moreno Valley, CA that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
dogs on leash
I hiked a little over a mile yesterday, the trail was clean and beautiful. I saw a hawk, lizards, birds and three wild hare. I'd say the trail is more moderate than easy, I gained about 800 feet in elevation in the mile that I hiked. The trail is dog friendly, my tiny terrier loved it. Bring plenty of water for this hike, there are a few shaded spots to rest in but you are mostly exposed.
So much graffiti!!!!! I was not impressed at all. People ruin everything. Won't be going back...
Hiked to 2 trees and back. Trail is very well maintained. A few steep grades makes this hike a great work out. Trail has a couple of well placed shaded areas to catch your breath.
Beautiful views!!!!! Great place to just hangout, do yoga, smoke weed and relax!!!
I hiked this trail for the first time and really enjoyed it. Beautiful views and no traffic. I only hiked 1.5 miles up because it was late in the evening and got a good workout. Easy to find with the directions on the app.
If you're looking for a quick, nearby getaway, then this place is for you! This park suited our needs for a quick, 2 hour hike. There are some nice views of Riverside and surrounding cities in the area. However, if you have more time, then I would suggest going to the San Bernardino National Forest or Joshua tree National Park not too far from Box Springs Mountain Park.
liked it. great hike. would do again
I hike this multiple times a week an love it. Great glades to stop and catch your breath. Can do a loop to the glades or all the way up to the road. For a shady return, take the path on the right where you see a big Star Wars looking boulder across the way (must watch for the path since there is no carin).
There was some interesting holes in some of the rocks. Unfortunately they trails are not very well marked and a quick loop hike took almost 3 hours. There is also lots of tagging in a large section of it.
This hike to the M was definitely challenging for me. The first mile or so is a steep incline which I felt was the hardest part. The trail itself is pretty distinguishable; no bush whacking needed. The trail is pretty popular. I ran into quite a few people doing it. Dogs can definitely do this hike and I saw some children do it as well. Pack enough water and sunscreen. There is virtually no shade. The view is nice. It was donkey breeding season when I went and there were a lot of babies at Box Springs. Keep an eye out though. There are snakes, tarantulas and bobcats in the area.
Trail was a challenge but a great hike..
one hell of a hike!! steep trail incline and decline all the way to the top !
It was an uphill drive, parking available(left money in a box) , portable restroom, great family walk up to the "M"( viewpoint from above the "M"), and make sure to finish before the sun goes down because they close the parking lot.
good work out
