Barker Dam Nature Trail is a 1.1 mile loop trail located near Desert Center, CA and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from October until May.
All around easy trail with interesting things to look at along the way. Really great place to relax and clear your head. Take your time and take in the sights.
One of the best trails at Joshua Tree National Park. The rock formations are awesome on this trail. Definitely do the loop to experience how it was intended. You know! Joshua Tree National Park is very popular with Rock Climbers, don't be surprised to see them scaling the rock walls near by. This trail is narrow and rocky and offers little shading. The views are magnificent, depending what time of year the dam might be dry. To hike this trail it will cost $15 to enter this national park which is good for one week. Note: This trail has trashcans, benches and restrooms only at the trailhead.
Also known as the Big Horn Dam, this is a beautiful easy trail... you have a good chance to see and photograph Desert Big Horn Sheep. It's a short hike and easy to squeeze in another hike on the same day. There was water in the damn when I we were there with a lot of birds and other wild life... spring offers spectacular desert flowers!
