One of the parks in Palm Springs, open all year to everybody. This park is in a rough neighborhood, in the past was a lot of gang activity because of illegal substance. One of the streets have been known where citizens driving by were shot and one was fatal. In the past decade it's been peaceful. Strange that the park is now closed and locked up for a week-end.
Have not been to this park in over two decades, surprised to discover on a week-end that the gate were closed and locked? The park is supposed to be only closed during week days when the school is in operation. It's a small park next to an elementary school; anyway they've done some upgrade to the playground area and now have covered picnic tables. Before there was no fence, now the entire park has a perimeter fence.
This park is in a dangerous neighborhood known as "Dream Homes" where people have died, gang related. There's a street that's known for drive by shooting also, not at the houses, at the cars driving through that street.
Its better if they close that park permanently to the public and let the school claim it for their use only. Let these gangs conduct their business somewhere else to prevent finding somebody dead in the park.
