Villines Homestead Trail is a 1/2 mile trail out and back from the buffalo River low water bridge crossing up the hillside to the historic log cabin homestead.
Easy, short hike to a neat little old cabin. Very cool historic spot. One of many in the area.
Short little hike after crossing the low water bridge. (We parked just before the bridge and walked across) Be sure to read about the bridge as well! Amazing that the buildings are still in great shape and people respect the area. Trail is clean. Neat to peak into life from the 1890's! He sure didn't move far from his original place did he?
Brief trip into what it must have been like in the 1800's. Across the low water bridge and to the right. Excellent preserved buildings and cabins. Good history lesson for all.
A top spot. Life must have been hard here back in the day.
Great little hike.
Great historical experience. The grounds are kept up by the parks dept, making it seem as though you've stepped back in time. Wonderful trail for folks who like to get out, but have to stick to easy trails.
"Beaver" Villines homestead is snapshot into Ozark life at the turn of the century. Villines lived his life within miles of where we was born. It was an easy hike. Good for the Kids.
