Rush Mountain Mining Loop Trail is 3.6 mile loop trail that climbs up a hill to reach the mine level. The trail then travels east along the side of the hill, past numerous old mines and some old mining equipment, then the primitive trail bushwacks over the mountain back to the trail head. The primitive part of the trail that is not maintained and climbs around and eventually over Rush Mountain and back to the trail head, it can be very confusing, is not marked, maintained or traveled to any great degree.

Its a great trail with very Beautiful sights! You can really feel the history while there its a must hike but be cautious of the uo and over "unmaintained" portion of the trail you must knw it well for i myself have found lost and stranded hikers on this part!!! I've hiked this trail about once a week for for 10 years and is always enjoyable and always finding new things "off trail"!!!

Love the history of the area. Completed this little trail after visiting the ghost town nearby.

The more primitive part of the trail was almost completely unmarked. My group and I got very lost until we found an old service road that followed back to the gravel road which led is back to our car. I would not recommend going without someone who has hiked it before.

Trail was well defined. Slightly steep on the primitive portion coming back over the top of the mountain but nothing to serious. Gorgeous view of the valley and Buffalo River. The old ghost town had some interesting items to see.

Returned with family and hiked this loop. The bushwhack portion was fun. The primitive trail is only faintly marked but you can't get lost. To far west and you hit the road into the area, to far south and you will hit the road on the south side. Finding the crack in the bluff you must pass through is the most difficult.

Just visited with family for a return trip. Great area. Hike is simple but a must do. Ticks were bad this year, but not a deterrent. I definately would do again and consider it a destination hike.

Returned with family to Rush enroute to Blanchard Cave. Toured the town and did this loop. Interesting to see. Had picnic at the NF campground along the river.

Hiked the trail to the old engine at the last big mine. There are some great views of the buffalo river and the creek at the end of the marked trial. At the end, go left and up the mountain on the primitive route that looped the trail back to the trailhead. That part was tough. Had to to go over the mountain and back down the other side. The trail is hard to follow. Pay attention for the blue diamonds nailed to trees and the ribbons that were left by a fellow hiker to get back to the starting point. Overall, great hike.

After hiking this trail I ran into a local who said, "The only thing you'll find at Rush are ticks and copperheads." I'd like to add poison ivy to that list too! Unless you're a history buff, this trail is really rather unremarkable.

Great hike with lots of history. Do some searching on the web for historic pictures before you go and it will give you some ideas of how it looked when the mines were in operation.

The trail has some nice history. The mines, old equipment, views, and bushwack was fun. The primitive trail is only faintly marked but you can't get lost. To far west and you hit the road into the area, to far south and you will hit the road on the south side. Finding the crack in the bluff you must pass through is the most dificult, but still not to hard.

The Rush ghost town is nice to visit. This trail has a number of plaques explaining the history. Informative. Nice little for fee primitive campground along the river.
