I didnt camp there but did stop by to look and saw has hostoric site on spot. This spot need to clean up and show the old founation were built. Now it is overgrown and noone will ever know it was there.
Never crowded. Often your the only one there. Ozark Highlands Trail is just a bit downhill. I hiked to the east 3 miles many times, where there is a spot to swim where it crosses dirt road. Its a really nice area, changing all the time. Lots of places to explore if you go off the trail. Lot of bears in area but never saw signs, and only one on road once. I know cause i lived just down the road and heard lot of stories. Never saw another person on trail. I mostly hiked the dirt roads and old roads around area.
Nice primitive NF campground, does have a nice day use shelter. Access to many hikes in the area.
