One of the most beautiful spots in AZ! Great for dogs
A lot of people!
Beautiful and fun.
Great hike to get out of the summer heat of Phoenix. Easy drive as all the roads are paved. Come early though, because parking lot can get full. Great easy hike. Forest workers let me look through their scope and saw a Bald Eagle eating a fish it had just caught from the lake. Defiantly one of the best day hikes and the drive is amazing as well. You will not regret hiking this trail.
This was a nice hike around the lake. Not too difficult with hardly any elevation change, lots of trees, small animals. We didn't come across too many people but the lake is pretty busy. I'll do it again when we camp in the area.
Pleasant walk around the lake. Took the Rocky Point Trailhead, the back side of the lake. I think that's the opposite of where most people go. We didn't see anyone until about 4 miles into the walk. Crossing the dam at the end starts the crowds, but they're mostly on the lake--few hiking the trail. A highlight was coming across a couple of forest service workers with spotting scopes fixed on an eagles nest and a perching Osprey. For geocachers, save the caches to your phone or bring your gps; zero phone service around the lake.
A favorite I do again and again, and again, and...are you hearing Peewee right now? Love this trail-its fun to people watch from afar and still get your space. Beautiful Lake, you can't go wrong.
The lake is bigger than it looks! Lol. Great hike. Not overly crowded. Quiet, peaceful & lots of fish jumping. Makes for a good day trip. Make sure to stop at the rim lookout points as well.
One of my favorite day hikes to get away from the Phoenix valley heat. Beautiful hike with ups and downs, but minimal elevation change. Easy hike. Bring a picnic for after!
