Its no mystery how Twin Pillars Trail, west of the Village of Oak Creek, got its name the two-mile round-trip hike peacefully meanders toward two big red rock buttes before climbing to a saddle between the buttes and two tall pillars. The gold at the end of the trail: fantastic views.
This trail has some amazing view. It's not heavily traveled. There were about 7 other cars at the low clearance parking area and the actual trailhead, but I never actually saw anyone else. There are places with some loose rocks and some steeper areas for people with short legs, but as long as you are careful, it's all good. The only downside, there is very little shade, so I wouldn't recommend doing this hike on a typical summer day in Arizona.
