This is an excellent loop that is very well maintained, well sign posted and if you include the vista summit trail, a moderate work out. Massive Car Park, good restrooms, and plenty of seating. Make sure you bring plenty of drinking water. If you want near perfect desert views, on a very well designed and maintained trail, this will give you a good 2 mile loop (2.5 miles if including the summit). This is part of the Sonoran Preserve trail system and is has excellent signage throughout.

Just completed this trail this morning. It's an easy to moderate trail. It's still over six miles so it helps to be in reasonably good shape. That said, all of the climbs, even to the summits, are pretty gentle, especially if your used to some of the summit trails in the Phoenix area. BTW, this trail is very dog friendly. It's also very popular with cyclists so keep your ears and eyes open for them. There are some great views and be sure to take both summit spurs (short and little steep but the view is worth it).

The trailhead has bathrooms but NO WATER so be sure to bring plenty. The trail is very well maintained and marked although using Alltrails makes it a breeze to navigate.

We hiked this trail today under ideal conditions. 50's early and then maybe 60 by noon. This trail is easy to moderate with the climbs to Apache Vista and Ridgeback Overlook the most aggressive. The trail head is great with lots of parking and facilities. No water so bring your own. The trails are very smooth with very little scrabble to worry about. There are lots of bikers and a few horse so be careful as they come on you sometimes suddenly. A very nice hike for the average person.

This is one of the best 1st rides that you can do if you are starting out mountain biking. Easy to get to. Just head down dove valley from I-17 north and then east.

The trail is very well maintained and great for trail running, hiking or mountain biking. Typical Sonoran desert landscape and views.

Great trail, Great views, even the ride to the trail is amazing. Don't miss the short and not difficult trail to Apache Vista. On a clear day you can see every mountain range in the valley.

Beautiful trail! The cacti were in bloom. Definitely suggest a camel pack for water. The Nalgene bottle wasn't enough for this size trail.

This was a great hike with lots of wildflowers just coming through (Feb). Quite busy to start with as this loop shares with other trails. Lots of mountain bikes and even came across horseback riders. Great views all round, although the Sidewinder trail gets quite close to houses at times, and the Ocotillo trail gets close to the Sonoran Paseo pathway and road. Great loop for distance, well sign posted, make sure you take a copy of the map and plenty of water.

This is an excellent Trail for Hiking, Mountain Biking or Horse riding, with amazing views of untouched desert. If you want to add some additional difficulty, include the Apache Vista Summit in your hike or ride.
Well worth the drive out to the Apache Wash Trailhead just off the Sonoran Desert Drive.
Please remember to bring Plenty of water with you as there is no drinking water available.
