This is currently my favorite hike of all time (I'm still young and there's plenty of hiking left in me). The trail is wide and mostly clear, with gorgeous views the whole way down. The views from Plateau Point were AMAZING. When down there, I realized just how much more canyon there was to explore. Can't wait to go back. In preparations for this hike, you will be inundated with warnings about bringing enough food and drinking plenty of water and leaving early. You need to heed these warnings. It is so much hotter at the bottom than at the top.
Did not go all the way, but definitely gonna challenge you coming up, Nice trail, only negative is the mules also take this trail, so once in awhile you get a nice "Farm" Smell to fill the lungs
Beautiful trail. Great and plentiful areas to take breaks and enjoy views. Worth doing!
Nice hike in the park. The top portion near the rim is congested with visitors that should not be hiking and are not prepared to be on the trail, as seen by the number of times a helicopter can flight down the trail in a day (seriously ridiculous!). Once you get past the second water house, the crowds dissipate and it gets nice. We camped at Indian Creek. Nice campground with a disgusting number of mice. They are everywhere! They will climb up your leg. They come out of the water fountains and spouts. They will try to get in your tent. The tables are the only safe place to sit. The place needs more snakes!
Beautiful- even in the rain!
Spent three days backpacking in the Grand Canyon. Day One: Hiked down South Kaibab to Bright Angel Campground. Day Two: Hiked up Bright Angel to Indian Gardens, with a side trip to Plateau Point. Day Three: Continued up Bright Angel to the rim. One of the best trips of my life!
