This Trail is definitely only for experienced hikers. The first initial Ascent up the mountain is definitely tough. Many people just go to the top and turn around. But if you are experienced, the rest of the trail is very beautiful. You can enjoy relative Solitude while on this Trail. The views from the top of the mountains are beautiful.
Great hike, good cardio without killing yourself!!!!
Large bee hive next to trail route- almost turned around but decided to push through. Beautiful views. Moderate intensity.
Great hike but so many people--even at 8am. Must try it earlier.
Great trail, good for intermediate hikers. If you want a easier hike then do waterfall trail. You will have to pay to hike any trails on this mountain. Good distance and didn't get busy til later in the day. Trails are very well kept and not a lot of garbage on the trails. Lots of dogs. It does need more summit trails.
Combine this with ford canyon and u got a great hike
Love this trail, definite gets my heart pumping!
Great views, though not as beautiful as Gold Canyon area. Interesting trail, with many wild flowers. Could use more shade but otherwise one of the best in western portion of metro Phoenix region. Saw a black ground squirrel and a very large lizard, similar to a Gila monster, today on this trail.
Great trail. I hike it and bike it all the time.
I came very close to being bit by a rattlesnake on 3/31/13 on this trail. Please be careful as the AZ temperature raises, that brings out the snakes. The trail is a steady climb but it is well maintained. It's not as difficult as its rating.
Mesquite Canyon is rated as difficult by the parks department, but it's not that strenuous compared to other difficult trails. The views are great, and the trail is well maintained. Crowds are light after the first mile or so.
