Kaibab Plateau - North Rim Parkway: Jacob Lake to Grand Canyon North Rim is a 30.8 mile lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near Fredonia, Arizona that features a great forest setting. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for scenic driving.
Nice drive through a national forest some of which burned a few years ago. Follows several meadows that had a herd of Bison and many deer. Also saw a coyote run across the road.
We stayed in Jacob's Lake in a National Forest Campground in July, 1994. The drive to the north rim is OK, but not great. The North Rim is not near as busy and the South Rim, but there are still a fair number of folks there.
Decent scenery, though the really interesting parts are at either end of the road. We stayed at the often overrlooked Kaibabab Lodge, rather than at Jacob Lake. It is interesting and rustic - not for those seeking luxury.
