Go John Trail is a 5.7 mile loop trail located near Cave Creek, Arizona and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
Beautiful scenery in the North valley.
Definitely a good work out.
The middle third is very rocky so not suitable for flip flops or soft footwear.
The trail is such that this is not a speed hike. It took me 1hour 45 minutes.
Entrance to the park is $6.00 enforced only by an honor system.
The views are well worth that.
I enjoyed this hike which and would describe it as moderate. There are nice views and was fairly quiet for a Sunday in January. There are restrooms available at the trailhead and there is a $6 fee to enter the park. Bring lots of water, sunscreen and a hat.
We finally got to hike the Go John loop, and were so surprised at the unholy amounts of horse poop on the trail. We got to the junction where we could go on the Overton trail, but decided to stick it out with John, and the trail got so much better! It was very pretty, tight paths, some areas were level and we decided to run, others were more for climbing....and the air was much fresher which is a good thing because we found ourselves sucking wind for a lot of it. Trail running made this a really great workout!
This trail was beautiful! So many flowers and interesting things to see! Definitely bring lots of water, sunscreen, and a hat!
Views aren't that great and the trail didn't have much character.
Great views, beautiful flowers, picnic tables and restrooms located at the trailhead.
Beautiful morning with some flowers starting to bloom. Saw three deer. Loved the varied terrain. Good workout but not a killer hike! Will be back in a couple weeks to see more flowers
Wildflowers starting to bloom and the cacti aren't far behind. 2.5 hour hike w beautiful views of the ranges I usually hike. Will definitely be back.
Lots of uphill walking but a great workout. Beautiful scenery.
This was a good hike, a bit longer then I thought. Not too hard and some nice views. Lots of mountain bikers, too.
It is easy but beautiful. Loved it
Enjoyed it. Good views and in crowded. Went on a Saturday, started at 2:00pm. Saw approximately 10-15 people the entire hike. Took us about 2:30 minutes at average pace with a few stops for water and to enjoy the mostly expansive views. You basically circle around one peak, which isn't a negative, and is good for making navigation easy. Paid $6 at the entrance to the park (unattended- honor system) for a day pass. First 10% has decent elevation gain in the switchbacks, but overall moderate to easy vertical.
Horse shit covered trails due to the
Horse rentals. $6.00 entry fee
