A short, sloped ascent to the base of Cathedral Rock. Hiking to Courthouse Butte allows great views of Cathedral Rock without the dangers of the final, very steep ascent to the saddle. Courthouse Butte is also connected to several other trails in the area. Take the wide Bell Rock Pathway from the kiosk toward Bell Rock. It climbs gently and at 0.50 miles there is a signed intersection with the Courthouse Butte Loop Trail. Continue ahead on the wide trail (this description is for taking the loop clockwise). The trail continues a gentle climb circling to the west of Bell Rock. It levels out and curves to the north below the slopes of Bell Rock.
awesome loop. I do this loop every time I visit Sedona. great for running.
spectacular views the entire way.
Easily accessible, very scenic hike, suitable for most.
Great easily accessible hike offering good distance and some vertical on the backside. Great scenery of Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte but can get crowded on weekends.
Really enjoyed this trail. Actually did the big loop to the courthouse butte loop to add additional distance and for some better views further from the rock formation. Not too difficult, it took us around 2 hours.
