This is a higher elevation hike in the Santa Catalina mountain range. Early in the season you can expect to see some snow. The trail towards the end meets up with Mt. Bigelow Trail which leads to the summit of Mt. Bigelow.

Challenging for sure! But very pretty landscape and views. We ventured off the trail and found the old plane wreckage! Very cool. Definitely bring lots of water and pick a cool day to do this one.

Difficult hike for sure. The humidity was insane. It says 5.7 but we tracked 7 miles. lots of overgrown bushes on the trail making it difficult to even see the trail. Saw a black rattlesnake too. Definitely watch where you step. word of advice...hydrate the night before and take snacks, gatorade water mixture and fruit.

great hill work but not the best for running. Great for hiking.

Shit looks like Lord of the Rings. You'll find yourself constantly looking over your shoulder for Smeagal's crackhead ass.

Great trail. It was in the 70s even though it was 100 degrees down in Tucson proper, beautiful wildflowers, butterflies, and mountain views. Very few folks on it so made for a nice secluded hike. Highly recommended.

It may have been desert below, but this trail was covered in snow for the first half. I actually ran this trail more than hiked it and it is now one of my favorites in Tucson.

I would recommend doing the hike to Crystal Spring Trail then on to a unmarked trail to the plane crash remains. Very fun to take a look at these remains! Somewhat difficult hike. We did see a rattlesnake on the trail.

This trail was probably fantastic, before a fire swept through the area. Don't forget your hat (not much shade on offer), and be prepared to get dirty crawling over a few burned and fallen trees.

It would have been a good idea to park one vehicle at the end of the trail. If you don't, you'll end up covering an additional 4-5 miles. There were many parts of the trail that had fallen trees covering it, but they were easy to get around. Still a little bit of snow at the higher elevations. 04/13/13
