I've been living in Sedona for 9 years and discovered the Bear Mountain trail about 7 years ago and absolutely love it. After hiking it once, I hiked it four more times that week and have since lost track how many times I've hiked to the summit of 6,558 feet. The views are amazing with very little views of the town of Sedona except towards the top. One of the things I especially like about the trail is 5 false summits before you get to the final summit. And what a view you get; for you can see the towering San Francisco Peaks to the north, plus looking around 360 degrees, you'll see Casner Mountain, Sycamore Canyon, Black Mountain, Robber's Roost, Mingus Mountain, Cathedral Rock, Airport Mesa, Thunder Mountain, Munds Mountain, Wilson Mountain. This hike is simply spectacular!
