Peterson Lake Trail is a 7 mile out and back trail located near Juneau, Alaska that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from April until October.
Lovely mix of meadow, trees and creek to walk through or along. In spring, beware of posthole potential.
When you are in Juneau, hiking the trails away from town is well worth it - especially if you can rent a Forrest Service cabin for an overnight. Peterson lake is one of those. I completed this hike in a light rain which lent a great atmosphere. Several spots have blueberries right up to the trail. I filled a hat to share with the camp that night. The cabin on the lake was one of the newest FS cabins when I was there. A dock with an aluminum boat and paddles are available to explore to lake with.
