This hike provides some really views of the north end of Monte Sano State Park and the east side of Monte Sano Mountain.
The hike is downhill from the parking lot on typical North Alabama terrain meaning a lot of rocks and roots. It starts back up as you near the Stone Cuts, which always amaze me. The trail is along the base of the bluffs, which become cave like in some places. I never tire of seeing these rock formations. There is a little vertical challenge at the end. This is one of my favorite trails.
Enjoyed this hike. The incline was slightly difficult in some place but my fitness isn't currently the best. I really loved seeing the rock formations.
Very cool, unique route. Probably not a terribly difficult hike, but if planning on running this little trail make sure you bring your A-game! Lots of rocky, technical terrain that will eat your ankles if you lose focus even for a second. Coupled with the elevation changes this is a fairly difficult, but extremely fun running trail. Will definitely be coming back to this one!
This trail was great. Not too easy, and definitely not too hard. Our dog really liked it. Lots of cool rock formations to climb on. We even saw a goat at the top of the mountain. Great add on to the Sinks Trail. Would definitely do again.
It was gorge-ous!
Excellent trail running but a bit tough. Great and challenging trails.
the beginning of the hike is dull. it looks like a construction site. but once you get to the first spilt it looks better. the rock formations were a lot of fun and the children enjoyed it. definitely a moderate level with the elevation changes and loose rocks. I will go back to it in the spring.
First time on stone cuts. Nice trail. Interesting rock formation. Good trail for beginners.
This is a great beginner hike and the rock formations are fun to play on. The tallest drop is probably 30 feet in case you were wondering about rock climbing or rappelling. The Monte Sano park currently charges $3/adult to enter the park (at least on the weekends).
Awesome hike. Very neat rock formations. Worth the trip we took from Tennessee.
Stone Cuts is a great beginner hike. The rocks are fun to play on and around. A good hike if you want fun but short.
its a very fun trail for the family dogs included
Nice Trail Great Park. This was out first hike of the year. Trail was mostly dry only a few wet areas.
Monte Sano Park is easy to get to. Great Views of the area. We did the 3.05 mile South Loop. After the hike we went back to the Picnic Area and had lunch. Nice clean Park
This is one of my favorite hikes. Every turn through the rock formations was worth the time to stop and take a photo even though it won't do it justice. Started on the Sinks trail and combined it with the Panther Knob trail for a good 3 mile track.
Probably one of the most interesting areas in the park. Very cool rock formations. I usually try to work it in as part of a longer loop. Nice short hike by itself.
Inside the State Park, take a camera, the hike is worthwhile. No overviews, but the rock formations are interesting and easy to explore. The trail(s) are well marked and easy to follow but can be slippery when wet. We experienced some rain showers that made it a bit muggy in the summer.
