The trail has a short side trail leading to natural spring. The trails are in great shape and the terrain is pretty easy. There are numerous ponds, both at Blue Pond Recreation Area and Open Pond Recreation Area. This is a nice short hike from the camping area at Open Pond.
This is an easy lake loop located in the Open Pond Recreation Area. The forested terrain is primarily longleaf pine and passes by several impressive live oak trees. Fishing piers are located on two of the lakes but all three lakes are easily accessible for fishing or fly fishing from several points along the trail. The recreation area has a really nice campground for both primitive and RV camping. Day hikers can also use the picnic area located between two of the lakes.
