Gwonguemseong Peak (Seoraksan Castle) - Seoraksun National Park is a 0.5 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Sŏrak-tong, Gangwon, South Korea that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and camping and is accessible year-round.
This hike begins after riding the cable car up from the main entrance of Seoraksan National Park. The peak offers a fantastic 360 degree panoramic viewpoint and is the best view in the park. After getting off the cable car, visitors can take a 20 to 30 minute hike to Gwongeumseong Peak (Seoraksan Castle) to get a birds-eye-view of Serok City and the Pacific Ocea. Follow the well marked trail up approximately 300 feet until you reach the open scramble to the top. The final ascent has ropes to assist in reaching the very final peak although it only a small challenge.
We went on the cable car and then hiked to the top of the mountain and enjoyed the view on a nice spring afternoon to finish off a day of hiking at Seoraksan National Park. This hike provides an incredible view, especially for the little effort that is required. This is well worth the time to go and see it.
