El Toro Trail is a lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near the city of Rio Grande that features a river. The trail is rated as difficult and primarily used for hiking. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This trail does not follow a river. It is technically closed but easy enough to access and there are no real problems with it that would keep you from being able to hike it. Would not take this trail after a lot of rain or during the rainy season. Did it in March after days of dry weather and it was beyond muddy, over ankle deep in some spots. Kind of difficult, but if you go on a day that isn't too cloudy the view is phenomenal, well worth the muddy and somewhat difficult trek. If you go on a cloudy day you will not be able to see anything. We happened to get to the top with about 15 minutes to enjoy the view, then clouds rolled in and we lost complete visibility of the surrounding mountains and oceans. With no waterfalls or rivers along the path, the view is the main attraction. Also, one of the lesser travelled paths in El Yunque, if you prefer hiking without a ton of other tourists. The drive up to the trail head is really beautiful as well.
Excelente vereda para aquellos amantes del las caminatas extremas.
