The Piers Loop Trail is a 5.4 mile loop trail located near Kingston Bridge, Waterford, Ireland. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking, walking, and trail running.
On the road to Lismore, park at The Swallow Inn, a pub near the Kingston Bridge. The bridge straddles the Waterford-Tipperary county line. Cross the bridge to the Waterford side. After crossing the bridge, follow the road for roughly half a mile. Take a sharp right, almost doubling back on yourself, and walk up the gradual incline. This road parallels a picturesque glen on your right, so do take the time to enjoy the view. Continue along this road for 2.5 miles, then take the first turn right. This will bring you onto a narrow road (known as 'The Piers'), which is about an eighth of a mile in length and will bring you to the other side of the glen. Having walked along this road, turn right, back toward Araglin. The glen will still be on your right-hand side. The road meanders back down toward Kingston Bridge, gradually unfolding views of the valley on your right and over the valleys and hills to the Foile Dearg. Toward the end of this walk, the road drops sharply downhill and offers a wonderful view over the Knockmealdowns. Turn left over Kingston Bridge and back to your starting point.
