Stayates-Makrinitsa Loop Trail is a 3.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Stagiátes, Thessaly, Greece that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Stagiates is a village close to the city of Volos with a free parking lot available and a net of trails starting from its main square. This loop trail offers a great way to enjoy walking through the picturesque villages of Makrinitsa and Koukourava with their unique architectural design. The trail is easy in its first section on the way down to Megarema creek and gets moderate as it goes up to the main square of Makrinitsa. You can have a break there, rest for a while and then follow the trail though the village which leads to the Megarema creek again and back to the trailhead in Stayates main square. There are many view points along the trail so take a camera with you.
