L'Aguille Du Midi via Tram is a 5.8 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near the city of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for nature trips and is accessible year-round.
Take a ride up the Aiguille du Midi Cable Car (Tram) to get the closest view of Mt. Blanc without actually climbing it If you visit Chamonix, France this is a must do afternoon trip. There are two stages of the tram to the top. The first brings you to the Plan de L'Aiguille at 2300m and the second crosses Les Pelerins glacier before ascending the steep north face. There is an elevator at the top which will bring you to a terrace with fantastic views of Mt. Blanc. This tram is also the access for backcountry skiers and guides to access the Mer De Glace glacier descending Mont Blanc; the route is considered the longest ski descent in the world I believe. In the summer time you will see rock climbers on the cliff faces around the summit.
