The Taevaskoja Hiking Trail is a 1.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near the city of Põlva vald that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round.
The Small and the Big Taevaskoja are the main tourist attractions of Polva county. The hiking trail of the Taevaskoja is situated in the Põlva municipality and is 3.0 km long. The trail starts from the Saesaare parking lot. The entire trail passes through the nature reserve of the Ahja River. Most noteworthy sites are the Small and the Big Taevaskoja, Neitsikoobas (Maiden's Cave) and Emaläte (Mother's Spring). There is an information stand at the beginning of the trail with maps of the trail and of the recreation area. There is a falling hazard on the steep river banks and stairs, especially in wet weather. Visitors should keep in mind that: - picking and collecting berries, mushrooms and medicinal plants is allowed in the nature park - visits with groups of more than 50 people must be coordinated with the park ranger - fires may only be set in areas designed for that purpose - the forest, river and river banks must be kept clean - you must not mark the outcrops in any way - you should only walk on forest paths, bike tracks and hiking trails.
