cross country skiing
Cross country skiing in the central-east part of the main crest of the Krkonose Mountains (Czech Republic). The Krkonose Mountains also called in English as the Giant Mountains are the highest mountains in the Czech Republic. Despite of quite low altitude about (1500 m) they have many Alps-like characteristics thanks to the location. There are no other higher mountains to the north and east, that's why we face the Alps-like weather in winter and vegetation in summer. This guide will lead you along the main crest, the central-east part from Spindlerovka to Snezne jamy (Snow Holes). The crest makes the Czech-Polish border. We will start from Spindleruv Mlyn and will return over Vrbatova hut down. There are wonderful views along the whole way, you'll visit the spring of the European river Labe (Elbe) and you will also meet interesting historical points, where the skiing sport was born in Bohemia.
