Sentinel Overlook is a 4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near the city of Torres del Paine that features a lake. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking.
Interesting hike through a beach forest destroyed by wildfire to an overlook close to the dramatic spires of Torres de Paine National Park (Chile). This trail comes to a waterfall shortly after its start. It travels through a beach forest that was burned by a wildfire. The trail is gentle, but the wind will likely be vicious, actually ripping water from the lake and into spray. Guanacos are found along the trail grazing. A bench marks the end of the trail where the Sentinel spire rises above a lake.
An interesting trail because the high wind and the burned trees gave it an alien look. The wind was blowing the water off the lake. It is good to where goggles to keep the sand out of your eyes. The guanacos are very interesting and not frightened of you. We couldn't stay at the viewpoint long because the wind was other 60 mph. But it is fabulous.
