Mt. Fitz Roy is a 12 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail that features a lake. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking.
This describes the route from the north to the campground and back to El Chalten, Argentina. The trail takes you up a river to beautiful views of Mt. Fitz Roy then continues around past Lake Capri and back to El Chalten. The trail starts out going past a guesthouse and then into the forest beside a stream. Views open up and you can see the Blanco Glacier. Continuing on Mt. Fitz Roy comes into view looking majestic and splendid. The campground is the point you take off to the steep, rocky trail to the base of Mt. Fitz Roy. This adds 4 miles to the hike. Mt. Fitz Roy can be seen from the campground and for that matter from the town of El Chalten. The trail continues past the campground and by Lake Capri and then into forest. It opens up with some beautiful views of the valley and then descends on a steep, rocky trail. If you can't get a ride to the start on the north, you can go up and back on this trail. It ends at the town of El Chalten.
