Copper Island Trail is a 4.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Columbia-Shuswap C, BC that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from April until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Copper Island is part of Scotch Creek Provincial Park. It is roughly circular in plan view and a trail runs completely around it. The south side is a steep cliff area so be careful on the slopes here. Most of the trail is moderate walking but there are some steep parts from both side up to the lookout at the southwest corner. Wonderful view of Shuswap Lake and area from up here.
From Salmon Arm drive west on Highway 1 to the Squilax bridge and then over to Scotch Creek and the park/campground. Take your boat/canoe/kayak over to the island and find a place to pull up onto the shore. The north side of the island has the best landing spot. OR turn north off Highway 1 at the Balmoral store and drive down to Reedman point. Stop at the store for specific directions. From the public beach at Reedman point launch your canoe/kayak and paddle over to the island. There is a place to pull out on the east side.
