Enjoy the natural river valley setting in Fort Saskatechewan. This river valley trail is in an area dedicated to preserving Canada's disappearing wetlands. Not only is it a pleasant walk, there is interpretive signage throughout your walk explaining the importance of wetlands. There is also signage explaining what the different wildlife and plant species are that you will encounter as you wander the trail. There is ample parking in the area just west of the Red Coat Landing Boat Launch. This is a large boat launch and there is a plaque showing the partnership between Fort Saskatchewan and the River Valley Alliance. From there, you can wander into the wetland conservation area and explore the trails. It is a level walk with little change in elevation unless you choose to walk up into one of the neighborhoods. Expect to see all sorts of wildlife in the area, esp. if you come early in the morning. It is also a pet friendly area and is popular with many area residents and their dogs. There are plans to extend this trail south to the borders of Fort Saskatchewan so its residents can enjoy even more access to the river valley, and hopefully, to the rest of the River Valley Parks system.
