Wenkchemna Pass Trail is a 10.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Alberta, AB that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible from July until September.
This was a great day hike. It took us 8hr to complete (round trip) however we did stop a few times. The start is difficult with switch backs and little shade from the heat. You get a great view of Moraine Lake once you get to the end of the switches! Once you make it its pretty flat for the rest of the trail. There is no tree covering for about 3/4 of the path so come prepared. At the end there is a scramble to get to the top and it's hard to see the path but if you follow the inukshuks you will make it. The top gives you views onto both valleys (AB and BC) so it's worth the trip! I recommend going really early as there is next to no parking at Moraine Lake. Group restrictions of min. 4 are in place because of bear activity so plan ahead!
At least 8h hiking to wenkchemna pass. 9,9Km to go up there. It worth!
An excellent hike with exceptional views all the way to the top !
Nice long hike with a little scramble at the very end. The valley looks like Jurassic park!
