Sulphur Mountain from Hot Springs is a 6.8 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Banff, AB that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from June until August.
Steep trail in sections, a good workout.
Do this hike in the afternoon, because after 6:30 PM, you can get a free gondola ride down.
Ran up from town to the summit. Reasonable grade going up and very well maintained trails. Was in the clouds going up but popped above them close to the top with the inversion layer. Views from up top were stunning. Clouds eventually cleared up and had great views going down also. Logistics were also great as the rest of the family could take the gondola and join me up top. Nice if you have some hikers in the party and some who prefer the ride.
I also popped down Sundance on the other side for a while, which had excellent views and is a good link if you want to extend.
Great views on top! Nice run down.
This was a fabulous hike. If you are into hiking little bit, do not use gondola. Take the usual hike up and once you are at the top, look for a trail that leads down on the other side of sulphur mountain. There is literally nothing but forest and wildlife and no people around!
It's well maintained easy hike for any hiker! If you get tired you can take the gondola on the way down! But keep in mind we are hikers we walk!
It was good hike and very well maintained trail. Had great historic site and red chairs near the peak. It'd be great view if sunny day. Good trail for everyone.
This is a great hike. After 7pm, you can take the gondola down for free, which is what I did after hiking all the way up. It's not bad if you pace yourself. The trail is well maintained and the incline is gradual. I don't hike monthly and was able to do it. The views from above are great!
The hike up is a good workout and quite strenuous (3 stars). The view at the top is amazing (5 stars). So definitely a great walk!
Good cardio work out!!!!
Good hike. Great views at the top (before it started snowing!!!). Much steeper the last mile
This is a good, long hike. It's heavily treed most of the way so there's not a lot of scenery. The switchbacks are a bit monotonous after a while, but the views from the top are well worth the hike. You feel better having hiked it than having taken the gondola.
