Great hike. Gorgeous views of Banff and its valley from the viewpoint and restaurant. Boardwalk to the Cosmic Ray Station is also great and very easy. We saw some wildlife (horn sheep mainly) on the way up. Nothing on the way down with the gondola though.
Fantastic hike. Did it with our 10 year old daughter nov 26 in 1h 50m :) the million dollar views & gondola ride down was the perfect reward
yep, moderate trail, (easy for experienced hikers), wide and well maintained trail up to the lower top of the mountain. restaurant food is good. washrooms are clean, crew was friendly. took us 2.5 hrs going up. yes, the use of the gondola going down , back to the parking lot was FREE (just get a starbucks coffee before you head out :-) ), it was around 3pm. you get in to the cable car, they take your group photo (well, at least you have your kid or bff with you).
Steep trail in sections, a good workout.
Do this hike in the afternoon, because after 6:30 PM, you can get a free gondola ride down.
Ran up from town to the summit. Reasonable grade going up and very well maintained trails. Was in the clouds going up but popped above them close to the top with the inversion layer. Views from up top were stunning. Clouds eventually cleared up and had great views going down also. Logistics were also great as the rest of the family could take the gondola and join me up top. Nice if you have some hikers in the party and some who prefer the ride.
I also popped down Sundance on the other side for a while, which had excellent views and is a good link if you want to extend.
Great views on top! Nice run down.
