Wander from the top of Forest Heights into historic Cloverdale Forest Heights Park is a mature park that was created in 1960 and offers fantastic views of the river valley and downtown Edmonton. Recent flooding of the North Saskatchewan has resulted in serious riverbank slumping and erosion which has closed the riverside trail. There is parking along 83 Street if you want to cross the pedestrian bridge over Rowland Road and enter Forest Heights Park. The views and photos from the pedestrian bridge are worth the extra effort as you are looking over the river valley just as it is dropping away to the riverside down Dawson Hill. Once you pass the school, there is a fantastic lookout point with the entire river valley spread out before you. Here you will enjoy views of the river as it curves along its banks. The Muttart is also visible from this viewpoint. The paved trail is in constant use from the residents of the surrounding communities, so please share the trail. The bike path used to be the old main road into Cloverdale from Forest Heights and was called Dowler's Hill. Because of the elevation of the park, you get nice views all along the walk as you walk down towards 92nd Street and into historic Cloverdale. At 101 Ave, you can exit the park or carry on down into the city. Once you enter the trees, there is an assortment of wildlife and many bike paths to enjoy. An enjoyable walk into Edmonton's history.
