If you do go to Maligne Lake it is definitely must do hike. It has absolutely everything you could ask for. You start the hike from the Maligne lake trail head (It is very well signed) and start a steady climb to the first viewpoint where towards the end it does get fairly steep until it levels out. The views of Maligne Lake and the Hall of the Gods are absolutely magnificent, and we just wished there was a bit more sun on the day we hiked. You can finish the hike here and loop back to Maligne Lake and we will rate that hike as moderate due to the length and steepness for the last km or so. However if your fitness levels allow, we would absolutely recommend pushing on to the Bald Hills summit that will add a couple of kms to the hike. It is very steep (see photos) for a few 100 metres but the 360 views of the Canadian Rockies you get at the top are just so worth the effort. Proper footwear and warm clothing a must. We did this in early october and we had snow showers on the summit. A bucket list hike!!
