Janapar Trail - Stepanakert to Patara is a 13.3 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail that features beautiful wild flowers. The trail is rated as moderate offers a number of activity options.
Through fields and past villages along the foothills. (Not a marked trail!) NOTE: THIS SECTION heading north from Stepanakert is virtually UNMARKED. Small sections have been marked, but nothing to rely upon. The entire Janapar Trail south of Stepanakert is marked, so go to trail sections 1 to 7 if you prefer a well marked trail. For this and other sections north, you only rely on this guide, and can use topographic maps as a reference. Starting in Stepanakert, at the statue of the city's namesake, Stepan Shahumyan, you head down one of the major boulevards, then start heading to the outskirts of the city, and out into the countryside. As you hike along the foothills and fields, you'll pass by a number of villages on this section. First Lernavan, followed by Aygestan, Dahrav, and then reaching Patara.
